Monthly planning method
This page describes how we approach monthly spending plans as a craft discipline inside broader financial planning and management for households.
Pay-date alignment
Thai households often receive income on dates that do not match calendar-month thinking. We anchor the plan to the days money arrives, then place obligations relative to those anchors so mid-month shortfalls are visible early.
Fixed reserve pass
Rent, utilities on contract, loan installments, insurance, and tuition are blocked first. We treat these as non-negotiable in the planning document unless you explicitly choose to renegotiate them with creditors separately.
Variable envelope pass
Groceries, transport, personal care, and hospitality receive minimum and maximum bands. The craft is choosing bands tight enough to guide daily choices yet wide enough that a single expensive week does not collapse morale.
Irregular but predictable costs
School activities, annual memberships, and festival seasons are spread across the months where they typically hit, using your prior-year notes when available. We do not invent historical amounts; gaps are marked for you to fill with real figures.
Review ritual
Each plan ends with a short ritual: one evening each week to compare receipts against envelopes, and one longer monthly reset. Consultations can include coaching on that ritual if requested.
